Greetings…

…to all Amateur Radio Operators, especially those in South Carolina! I’m Matthew Crook, W1MRC, and I am your new South Carolina Section Manager as of July 1, 2024. I have served as Assistant Section Manager under John, NJ4Z, since June 2023. I have a short bio on my qrz.com page, so I am not going to post that here. However, reach out to me if you have any questions or need any assistance.

I’m excited to have this opportunity to work with hams across the state to grow both the number of (active) hams and ARRL membership in South Carolina. I believe the biggest key to our success is successful clubs. As we finally have COVID and Lockdowns behind us I am seeing several clubs locally growing and becoming very active. I am sure there are more across the state that I am not aware of yet doing the same.

The ARRL Section Manger e-mail capability is currently still unavailable, otherwise, John and I would have pushed out e-mail notifications already of these updates. Please bear with us as ARRL gets all their online services back in working order.

As time permits I plan to visit as many clubs in SC as I can. Please send me an e-mail if you have a specific date you want to request a visit.

My current term as Section Manager ends 12/31/2024. Elections will be held in September/October for the 2025/2026 term, so please watch for your ballots, e-mail notifications, and postings here and ARRL.org.

Last and definitely not least, Thank you to John Gendron for serving as SC SM and giving me both the opportunity to serve as SC ASM and now SC SM. Thank you Dr. Jim, Bill, and the current SC cabinet for your support as I step into this new role. Thank you Marc Tarplee for setting the high bar of excellence for the SC SM during his 13 years in the position.
